Mungeli district observed International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025, with Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao leading a mass yoga session. The event, themed “Yoga Sangam, Green Yoga,” was held at the Adarsh Agricultural Produce Market premises and saw participation from various officials and community members.
During the session, yoga instructors Vivek Kesharwani and Purushottam Jaiswal guided the participants through different yoga asanas and pranayama. Arun Sao, in his address, underscored the importance of yoga for a healthy and balanced lifestyle in modern times. He encouraged attendees to integrate yoga into their daily lives for overall well-being.
MLA Punnu Lal Mohle also spoke, highlighting the benefits of yoga for mental peace and health. He appreciated the district administration’s efforts in organizing the Yoga Day event.
Key participants included Zila Panchayat President Shrikant Pandey, Collector Kundan Kumar, and other senior officials. The event also featured a tree-planting initiative under the “One Tree for Mother” campaign.
Under the theme “Water, Forest, People, a Natural Management,” Arun Sao initiated the plantation by planting a Bahira sapling, promoting environmental awareness. Other dignitaries, including MLA Punnu Lal Mohle and Zila Panchayat President Shrikant Pandey, also participated in the plantation drive, planting Peepal and Bahira trees respectively, to encourage the public to plant more trees.
