To manage traffic congestion, diversions have been introduced at various roundabouts on the 130-meter road in Greater Noida West. These diversions include the implementation of U-turns on either side of the roundabouts. Temporary barriers have been erected to close off the roundabouts, as part of the immediate measures. The Greater Noida Authority has announced that permanent barriers will be installed following the conclusion of the Kavad Yatra, with the aim of providing a lasting solution to the congestion problem.
At the Ek Murti roundabout in Greater Noida West, temporary barriers have been constructed using a combination of Noida Police barriers, iron grills, and ropes. However, these barriers are frequently bypassed by commuters, leading to unauthorized passage by two-wheelers and e-rickshaws. This undermines the diversion plan, resulting in the recurrence of traffic jams.
Traffic diversions are active on both sides of the roundabouts. The Authority has sealed off part of the Iteda roundabout using broken street light poles, large stones, and iron barriers. The installation of permanent barriers is anticipated to significantly reduce congestion. While temporary measures have offered some relief, their impact is limited without the implementation of permanent infrastructure.
Manish Kumar, a local resident, lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister’s portal, urging for the installation of permanent barriers to alleviate the traffic congestion issues. Narottam Singh, Senior Manager, Greater Noida Authority, explained that temporary barriers were installed to maintain traffic flow during the Kavad Yatra. Plans for permanent barriers are scheduled to be reviewed after the event.
