Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is finally slated for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025, with pre-bookings now available. Genelia shared the news on social media, generating buzz among fans.
A video posted by Zee Music Company on Instagram shows the actress discussing the film. The caption stated: “Sitaare sirf zameen par nahi, screen par bhi chamkenge! Advance bookings are OPEN! Your date with Sitaare is waiting.”
The movie, described as a spiritual successor to ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ is a comedy centered on love, humor, and joy, as shown in its trailer.
After some reported setbacks, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has been approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Aamir Khan apparently disagreed with changes suggested by the CBFC’s Examining Committee. Consequently, the Revising Committee (RC), led by Vaman Kendre, reviewed the film again on June 16.
As a result, the Revising Committee made several adjustments: the term “business woman” was replaced with “business person”; the reference to Michael Jackson was swapped for “Lovebirds”; an image of the word “Kamal” was removed; and a new voiceover disclaimer was added, while an old one was removed. Following the disclaimer at the beginning, a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was included.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and features 10 newcomers: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
The movie is directed by R. S. Prasanna, known for the critically acclaimed ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.’ It’s one of his biggest projects to date.
In addition to Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in leading roles, the film showcases new talents. Amitabh Bhattacharya penned the lyrics, and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composed the music. Divy Nidhi Sharma is credited with writing the screenplay.
‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, with B. Shrinivas Rao and Ravi Bhagchandka also serving as producers.
The movie is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 20, 2025.
