Following Tottenham Hotspur FC’s decision to remove Ange Postecoglou, Chairman Daniel Levy elaborated on the reasoning behind the move. The board made the decision on June 6, 2025, independent of the Europa League success. Despite the European trophy win, Levy underscored the club’s broader ambitions, primarily the Premier League title, which Tottenham last secured in 1961. Thomas Frank has been identified as the target to achieve the objective.
Levy stated, “You saw the outpouring of emotion with the parade. It was just incredible. We’ve won a European trophy.” However, he added that the win wasn’t the primary objective. “But it’s not enough. It’s what we haven’t done that is more important. We need to win the league. We want to win the Premier League. We want to win the Champions League. We want to win.”
Levy emphasized his commitment, stating that “Failure is not an option,” and his desire to succeed was even stronger due to the challenges involved. He expressed gratitude to Postecoglou for his contributions, including finishing fifth in the first season and winning a trophy in the second. He also recognized the need to compete in all competitions, which led to the change. He highlighted the positive relationship with Postecoglou and the collective nature of the decision. Levy is looking forward to a fresh start under a new coach, with the aim of building on the previous season’s achievements. He also praised Thomas Frank’s intelligence and communication skills.
