Following the devastating Air India plane crash, DNA analysis has successfully matched samples to identify 87 individuals out of the total victims. According to Dr. Rajnish Patel, the Additional Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital, there were 92 matches due to some duplication in samples. As a result, 47 bodies have been transported to different districts for final disposition. The districts that have received the bodies include Kheda, Ahmedabad, Kota, Mahesana, Bharuch, Vadodara, Aravalli, Anand, Junagarh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Mahisagar and Bhavnagar. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, en route to London, crashed shortly after departing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, resulting in 241 fatalities, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. An expert from the UK inspected the crash site. The former Chief Minister will be cremated in Rajkot with full state honors. The Indian flag will be draped over his mortal remains, and thousands of kilograms of flowers will adorn the hearse. The authorities have pledged to handle the remaining bodies with dignity. Out of the 242 people on board, 241 perished, with one survivor currently hospitalized. Tragically, 33 other individuals, including residents and medical students, also lost their lives when the aircraft crashed into a doctor’s hostel.
