Police in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, have arrested a man following allegations of severe abuse against his wife. The incident involved shocking acts of cruelty, including the insertion of chili powder into the victim’s private parts, branding with a hot iron, and an attempt to administer an electric shock. The distressing event took place in the Devariya Kothi area of the district.
The injured woman is currently hospitalized and is receiving medical care. Based on her complaint, authorities apprehended the husband, Shatrughna Rai, aged 40. The woman claims that her husband, along with his mother and sister-in-law, were all involved in the assault. She has filed a formal complaint at the Devariya police station.
The victim stated that her husband’s actions were fueled by suspicions of infidelity, believing she was involved in an affair with someone from their village. She has three children and her husband runs a beauty shop. She reported being brutally beaten on June 13, with her hands and feet bound, and nearly strangled. She further stated that her husband branded her thighs and private parts. She was locked away for two days without food, while her in-laws offered no support.
Local residents reported the abuse to the police. The victim’s brother took her to the hospital on June 15. Police have confirmed the arrest of the husband and are investigating the involvement of other family members.
