Rajkot, Gujarat, witnessed the final farewell to former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, a BJP leader, as he was cremated with full state honors. The ceremony was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and other key figures. A 21-gun salute was performed as a mark of respect during the last rites, which took place at the Ramnathpara crematorium. The funeral procession commenced from Rupani’s residence, with Rajkot Police ensuring security and traffic management. Before the cremation, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and cabinet members offered their respects at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where Rupani’s body was kept for public viewing. Nitin Patel and other officials also visited the hospital to offer condolences. Anjali Rupani, Vijay Rupani’s wife, expressed her grief. Rushabh Rupani, son of the former CM, shared the family’s sorrow and extended gratitude to the support received. He remembered his father’s long-standing political contributions and the many lives he touched. Rupani was one of the victims of the Air India plane crash near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, which resulted in 241 deaths. The sole survivor, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, is receiving medical care.
