Following criticism regarding the timing of his response, Aamir Khan has spoken out about the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22nd. The actor shared his perspective on the tragedy and explained why his comments were not immediately available on social media.
Khan condemned the attack, calling it an act of “cruelty” and “cowardice.” He stated, “The terror attack was cruel. It only demonstrates the terrorists’ cowardice that they entered our country and fired bullets on common men. You or I could’ve also been there. They asked their religion and then fired bullets. What does that mean?” He clarified that his silence on social media should not be interpreted as indifference.
He also acknowledged the Indian military’s response, emphasizing the attack’s impact on national unity. Khan went on to say, “That was an attack not only on our nation, but also on our unity. They’ve already got a befitting response from our country.” Khan further asserted that those involved in the attack should not be considered Muslims, stating, “No religion asks you to kill people. I don’t consider these terrorists Muslims because it’s written in Islam that you can’t kill any innocent human, can’t strike a woman or a child. They’re going against the religion by doing what they are doing.”
In addition to his comments on the attack, it has been reported that his upcoming film is facing issues with the CBFC, who have requested cuts that Khan is unwilling to make. He will meet with the CBFC to resolve the issue. The film, directed by R.S. Prasanna and featuring Genelia Deshmukh, is a remake of the Spanish film Champions (2018), with a release date of June 20, 2025.
