Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh are joining forces once more, following the success of their recent collaboration on ‘Amar Singh Chamkila.’ The film, currently untitled, promises to be a moving story of love and longing. Filming is set to begin in August 2025, with a planned theatrical release on Baisakhi 2026.
The cast includes Diljit Dosanjh, along with Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari. The project also reunites the creative team of A.R. Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali.
Imtiaz Ali used a poem by Momin to introduce the film, quoting, “’Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahin hota’ (‘You are with me, however, When there is no one else’).”
The movie is about a boy and a girl, and also a nation. The director explained, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? This film has a big heart. It has a large canvas, yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country. Wish us well as we dive into the currents of this dynamic story, we hope to emerge next year with a touching cinematic experience in a theatre near you.”
Additionally, Imtiaz Ali is working with Netflix on ‘O Saathi Re’, starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary, and Arjun Rampal. The makers called it “an ode to the vintage feeling of love in contemporary times.”
