A large-scale operation against illegal alcohol businesses was executed by the police in the Chirkunda and Kalubathan regions of the Nirsa sub-division. The joint raid, conducted late Wednesday night, resulted in the confiscation of a significant volume of both Indian-made and foreign-made liquor. Two individuals involved in the illicit trade were arrested during the raid. The police have also intensified their search for other suspects who are still at large. SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla of Nirsa provided an update on the operation during a press briefing held at the Maithon office on Thursday. The SDPO confirmed that the raids were carried out under the guidance of senior police officials to combat the illegal production and sale of alcohol. In the Kalubathan OP area, a raid at the home of Raghunath Tudu in Kathardiha village led to the discovery and seizure of a large amount of liquor. Mangal Tudu, a liquor seller, was apprehended and provided information about other individuals involved during questioning. The police are currently pursuing these leads. Furthermore, a raid at a hotel near the Jhundkundar Phatak vegetable market within the Chirkunda police station jurisdiction led to the seizure of stocks of both foreign and local liquor. The hotel owner was caught attempting to escape but was quickly apprehended by the police. Both of the arrested individuals have been charged under relevant sections and sent to judicial custody. The SDPO affirmed that the operations would persist, with the aim of bringing all those involved in the illegal liquor trade to justice.
