Matthew Hayden has expressed his views on South Africa’s performance in the World Test Championship final, particularly criticizing their batting approach and captain Temba Bavuma’s leadership. Australia were bowled out for 212 in their first innings, with Rabada taking five wickets and Jansen claiming three. Hayden, analysing the match, suggested that South Africa’s lack of attacking intent was a key factor, particularly in the context of the conditions. He believed that Bavuma needed to set a more positive example with the bat and show more aggression, given the quality of Australia’s bowling attack. Hayden pointed out the importance of quick runs and aggressive batting to put pressure back on the opposition. The Proteas had a difficult start to their innings, losing early wickets and finding themselves significantly behind Australia’s score at the end of day one.
