In a bizarre turn of events, a man from Kawardha, Chhattisgarh, faked his drowning at the Gangrel Dam to escape debt. After leaving his clothes and slippers at the dam, he disappeared, leading to an extensive search operation by police and divers. The search went on for 12 days before authorities tracked him to Delhi. The man, Hemant Chandravanshi, reportedly confessed that he orchestrated the stunt due to his financial woes. He had visited the dam with friends, and after sending them on an errand, he vanished. The police, after suspecting foul play, tracked his mobile number to Delhi. He is now in police custody in Dhamtari, and legal action will be taken.
