Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, witnessed two separate road accidents that resulted in the deaths of two people and left one critically injured. The incidents have caused widespread grief in the region.
The first tragedy unfolded in the Kharsia police station area near the Pilari canal on Tuesday morning. Budhheshwar Sidar, aged 35, from Suti village, and his relative Rupesh Sidar were riding a motorcycle after dropping off Budhheshwar’s sister in Gadgaon. A speeding trailer, en route from Kharsia to Raigarh, collided with their bike. Budhheshwar was crushed under the trailer’s wheels, resulting in his immediate death. Rupesh Sidar sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The trailer driver fled the scene, prompting a police investigation.
The second fatal accident occurred in Dhanagar village, under the jurisdiction of the Kotra Road police station. On Monday evening, around 5 PM, Uttam Prasad Sarthi had parked a tractor laden with sand on a slope and gone home. Ashok Yadav (46), who was nearby, saw the tractor rolling down the slope and tried to stop it. Yadav was run over by the tractor in the process, suffering fatal head injuries. Police were notified by family members and villagers, and an investigation has been launched after the body was sent for a post-mortem examination.
