A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru turned into an unexpected ordeal for a passenger who spent the entire journey locked in the airplane’s lavatory. The airline has offered compensation, but the bizarre event has generated significant attention and amusement on social media.
The passenger’s confinement ended when the flight arrived in Bengaluru, where ground staff and engineers forced open the malfunctioning door.
The incident took place on a Monday night flight, which was delayed by two hours. The flight departed at 2:10 AM instead of the planned 10:55 PM. A passenger, seated in seat 14D, was unable to exit the restroom after entering it shortly after takeoff because of a jammed door lock.
Crew members tried to resolve the issue, but the door remained stuck. The crew then wrote a note to the passenger, sliding it under the door, advising the passenger not to panic and to remain seated until the plane landed in Bengaluru.
The note quickly gained online attention, with many users finding it humorous and commenting on the handwriting. The flight arrived in Bengaluru at approximately 3:45 AM. The airline has since apologized to the passenger for the trouble.
