A statewide awareness campaign against illicit substances has commenced in East Singhbhum district, under the guidance of the state government. The core objective is to spread the message of de-addiction across the region. The Deputy Commissioner, Karn Satyarthi, inaugurated the campaign by flagging off an awareness chariot from the Collectorate. The chariot will traverse different blocks within the district, raising awareness about the detrimental effects of drug consumption. During the event, the Deputy Commissioner led an oath-taking ceremony for all officers and employees present, pledging to abstain from drugs. He highlighted that drug abuse affects an individual’s health, future, family, and society, causing both mental and physical health issues. The campaign aims to involve every segment of society to foster a drug-free environment. Residents are encouraged to actively engage in the campaign and educate others about the dangers of drugs. This special initiative will run from June 10 to June 26, 2025, featuring numerous awareness programs to educate the public on the harmful effects of substance abuse.
