In a close call, Tejashwi Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and a prominent figure in the RJD, escaped a car accident in Vaishali district on Saturday. A truck collided with two vehicles in his convoy near Goraul. Yadav was on his way back to Patna from Madhepura, where he had attended a political rally.
The convoy had paused for a tea break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway at about 12:30 AM. While Yadav was a few meters away, the truck crashed into the stationary vehicles of his security detail. His personal vehicle was not affected, and he remained safe.
The impact of the collision resulted in injuries to three security personnel, who were promptly transported to a local hospital. Yadav later visited them to assess their condition. The injured officials are now in stable condition, though they sustained injuries.
The truck driver was apprehended at the scene by the local police, and the truck has been taken into custody. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. Preliminary reports suggest potential factors like speeding or driver fatigue.
The incident has brought attention to the security risks faced by political leaders traveling long distances in Bihar, particularly during nighttime hours. RJD members used social media to express their relief and call for enhanced road safety. Party officials have demanded a thorough review of VIP security procedures during road travel.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his busy political engagements and extensive travel within Bihar, has resumed his normal routine. He has assured his supporters that he is safe and unaffected by the incident.
