A passenger on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru had an unusual travel experience – being confined to the aircraft’s restroom for the entire flight. The airline has apologized and offered a refund, yet the incident continues to generate disbelief and amusement. The passenger was finally released after the plane touched down in Bengaluru, with ground staff resolving the issue.
The event unfolded on a Monday night flight, delayed by two hours. Shortly after takeoff, the passenger in seat 14D found themselves locked in the lavatory due to a malfunctioning door lock. Efforts by both the passenger and crew to unlock the door were unsuccessful. The crew, seeking to reassure the passenger, passed a handwritten note under the door, instructing them to stay seated on the toilet until arrival in Bengaluru. This note quickly circulated on social media, eliciting humorous reactions. The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM, and the door was subsequently opened by airport engineers. The airline has expressed regret over the situation.
