A tweet referencing U.S. President Donald Trump and the Epstein files, posted by billionaire Elon Musk, has been removed. The online clash ignited after Musk suggested that the files, which may contain Trump’s name, were kept secret. Musk had recently stepped down from his role as a special government employee within the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The conflict seemingly originates from disagreements over Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’
Musk’s since-deleted tweet read, “Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
Following this, Musk indicated a potential resolution in a response to a post by American Fund Manager Bill Ackman. Ackman wrote, “I support @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk and they should make peace for the benefit of our great country. We are much stronger together than apart.” Musk replied, “ You’s are not wrong.”
The dispute comes as Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill,’ which involves tax cuts and defense spending increases, is being debated. The two prominent figures engaged in a heated exchange of accusations on social media. Musk’s allegations regarding Trump’s involvement with Jeffrey Epstein marked a serious escalation in their conflict, happening shortly after Musk left his position with the Department of Government Efficiency.
US Vice President JD Vance voiced his backing for President Trump amid the public disagreement. On X, Vance shared, “President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”
