Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded Chhattisgarh officials in New Delhi for their contributions to the success of recent anti-Naxal operations. He expressed the Modi government’s dedication to eliminating Naxalism in India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma attended the event.
In a social media post, Shah praised the officers and announced his plan to meet the brave soldiers who contributed to these successful operations. He highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to tackling the Naxal threat.
The anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh are being conducted under the guidance of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister. A significant operation involving the Chhattisgarh Police and DRG forces from various districts took place in the Abujhmad area from May 18 to May 21, 2025. The operation resulted in the killing of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna, and the seizure of a substantial amount of weapons and ammunition.
Chhattisgarh’s key police officials, including DGP Arun Dev Gautam, ADG Vivekanand, IG Sundarraj, SP Prabhat Kumar, SP Jitendra Yadav, and SP Shalabh Singh, were recognized by Amit Shah. The event was also attended by senior officials such as Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka.
