Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has formally requested that Union Home Minister Amit Shah authorize a CBI investigation into the disappearance of Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam, residents of Indore. The couple was reported missing in Shillong, Meghalaya, last month. While Raja was later found dead, Sonam remains unaccounted for. CM Yadav expressed the state’s solidarity with Sonam’s family. He has been in communication with the Meghalaya Chief Minister and has deployed senior police officers to coordinate with Meghalaya officials. The CM has urged the Union Home Minister to order a CBI inquiry to ensure Sonam’s safe return. The family of Raja Raghuvanshi, whose body was recovered from a gorge in Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, had previously written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking a CBI investigation. The couple, who were on their honeymoon, were last seen on May 23. Raja’s remains were recovered on June 2, and Sonam’s whereabouts remain unknown. Raja’s brother, Vipul Raghuvanshi, has stated that the family believes a CBI inquiry is crucial for justice and finding Sonam. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has expressed his condolences and affirmed that all necessary actions will be taken to identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident.
