Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah honored officers in New Delhi for their contributions to the success of anti-Naxal operations. Shah praised the officers and highlighted the government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were also present.
In a social media post, Shah recognized the historical significance of the successful operations and expressed his desire to meet the soldiers involved, planning a visit to Chhattisgarh. The operations, conducted under the guidance of the Union Home Minister, saw Chhattisgarh Police, including forces from several districts, conduct an operation in the Abujhmar region between May 18-21, 2025. An encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests near Boter led to the deaths of 27 Maoists, including a key leader. A significant amount of weaponry was seized.
Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh were all recognized for their efforts. The ceremony was attended by senior officials such as Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka.
