The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, has appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to recommend a CBI investigation into the disappearance of Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam, in Shillong. Raja was found dead, while Sonam is still missing. Yadav has expressed his solidarity with Sonam’s family and has been in contact with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Madhya Pradesh police are coordinating with Meghalaya officials. The family of Raja Raghuvanshi had earlier written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking a CBI probe. The couple was last heard from on May 23, during their honeymoon in the northeastern state. Raja’s remains were recovered from a gorge near Cherrapunji on June 2. The family believes a CBI inquiry is crucial for justice and finding Sonam. Vipul Raghuvanshi, Raja’s brother, has stated that they hope the CBI will help to uncover the truth. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has offered his condolences and assured that all measures will be taken.
