Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah met with officials in Delhi to recognize their contributions to recent successful anti-Naxal operations. He highlighted the Modi government’s dedication to eliminating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were in attendance.
On the social media platform X, the Home Minister celebrated the success of these operations. He expressed his desire to meet the soldiers whose bravery made these operations successful and announced a forthcoming visit to Chhattisgarh. These operations, conducted under the direction of the Union Home Minister, have been instrumental in combating Maoist insurgents.
A significant operation, carried out by the Chhattisgarh Police (including DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur), took place in the inner areas of Abujmarh from May 18 to May 21, 2025. This resulted in an encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of Boter village, where 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary and Politburo member Basavaraju alias Gaganna, were killed, and substantial amounts of weapons and ammunition were seized.
Recognized for their efforts were Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range Sundarraj, Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar (Narayanpur), Jitendra Yadav (Bijapur), and Shalabh Singh (Naxal-free district Bastar). Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials also attended the event.
