In a recent meeting in New Delhi, Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the progress of anti-Maoist operations and development initiatives in the Bastar region. The Chief Minister highlighted the effectiveness of the state government’s new strategies, supported by the central government, in achieving significant milestones in the Naxal eradication campaign. He noted that the intensive operations conducted over the last 18 months have yielded positive outcomes.
Chief Minister Sai reported a notable increase in Maoist surrenders, with 1,428 individuals laying down their arms, a figure that surpasses the total of the previous five years. Furthermore, he detailed the killing of 427 Maoists in 205 encounters, including key figures such as General Secretary Basava Raju and Central Committee member Sudhakar.
Additionally, the Chief Minister emphasized the establishment of 64 new forward security camps, which have fortified the security infrastructure. These camps are facilitating the swift provision of essential services such as electricity, clean water, healthcare, and education to nearby villages. Under the ‘Niyad Nellanar Yojana,’ a comprehensive approach is being implemented in 146 villages, offering 18 types of community services and 25 government schemes, fostering increased public confidence in the governance system.
