Bilaspur. Polling was completed in the first phase of the three -level panchayat elections in Masturi block of the district. Polling booths were set up to vote for rural voters in Gram Panchayat Raliya. The counting of votes began after the voting. The count was also done uninterruptedly. All the candidates and supporters who had started celebrating the victory. Meanwhile, an incident that took place inside the polling booth created a situation of dispute. Actually, female workers were also engaged in the polling party. She was also cooperating in the counting of votes. After completion of the count, when the boxes were being kept safe, at the same time some ballot paper fell one by one on the ground with a female worker’s saree. Just what was it then the supporters of the defeated candidates started creating a ruckus.
As soon as the villagers standing outside the polling booth came to know about the dispute. The defeated candidates and supporters began to accuse them of bias in the counting of votes and surrounded the booth. Meanwhile, some villagers started stone pelting inside the booth. Seeing the matter deteriorating, the polling party immediately informed the officers about this. Officers spoke of reaching Raliya immediately along with informing the nearby police station. By the time the police reached the police, the villagers started creating a ruckus. Meanwhile, stone pelting also started. The frightened paeling party imprisoned itself inside the booth. The door closed from within and waited for the police to come.
The police, who reached the spot, first started pressurizing the villagers to control. When the villagers calmed down, they were explained and the votes that remained were counted and the sealing of the box was given to the ballot and the box was sealed. After the entire process, the police under their supervision sent the polling party to the destination.
Police have arrested three people on charges of surrounded and stoning the polling party. Three villagers are being interrogated by bringing them to Sipat police station.
