20% of employees will be fired; 950 crores due to Corona. Loss of Rs. 1900 crores by 2021September 16, 2020
After Pakistan and Australia, the economic condition of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has deteriorated due to coronavirus epidemic. The board has prepared to remove 20% of its staff i.e. around 62 employees. This was stated by ECB CEO Tom Harrison in his statement released on Tuesday.
“Cricket has lost £ 100 million (about Rs 950 crore) so far due to Corona,” Harrison said in a statement released on the ECB website. If the epidemic continues till 2021 summer, it could suffer losses of up to 200 million pounds (about Rs 1900 crore). while Cricket Australia (CA) fired some employees in May. Also, 80% of the employees had been asked to pay only 20% by August. CA also searched temporary jobs for some of its employees in supermarkets for three months. This was said by board chief executive Kevin Robert himself in a radio show.
