Kathmandu At least two people have died and 18 people are reported missing due to floods in Sindhupalchowk district of Nepal. Police confirmed this on Thursday. Floods and landslides have also damaged the road connecting the Tatopani-Zhangmu border point between Nepal and China.

Sindhupalchowk district administration office chief district officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal told news agency Xinhua on Thursday morning that 14 people were missing from 11 houses flowing in the Barahabise municipality. With this, 3 people were injured.

At the same time, four people went missing and two people were injured after two houses were swept away in Bhotekoshi municipality.

He also said that the Aranico highway connecting the capital Kathmandu to the Nepal-China border point has also been damaged at at least seven places.

“This will affect our country’s trade with China for a few days,” Dhakal said.

In March, the Tatopani-Zhangmu border point, which was closed for two months due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, was reopened.
