German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday urged China to not ship weapons to assist Russia’s struggle in Ukraine and as a substitute requested Beijing to exert stress on Moscow to tug again its forces.
In a speech to the German parliament, Scholz mentioned it was disappointing that Beijing had kept away from condemning the Russian invasion, although he welcomed its efforts in the direction of nuclear de-escalation.
“My message to Beijing is obvious: use your affect in Moscow to induce the withdrawal of Russian troops,” he mentioned. “And do not ship any weapons to the aggressor Russia.”
