12 Chhattisgarh cops missing after encounter with Maoists |

Raipur, CGNews: At least dozen policemen went missing on Dec 20 of in forest Chhattisgarh's after an encounter of 33-member police team with Maoist insurgents at Taragura under Konta block in Dantewada district.
"Twenty-one cops returned in two batches while 12 are missing, among them eight Special Armed Forces (SAF) personnel and four from the District Force (DF)." the police said.

The site of the gun battle was some 500 km south of state capital Raipur, a bastion of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).
It comes just four days after a group of Maoists successfully engineered a jailbreak in Dantewada, in which 299 inmates included some 100 Maoists escaped.

Dantewada Jailer Mankar was duty bound to make ready the bed in the jail for the Sanyal a naxalite leader who was in the prison. He arranged food from Madhuban a local hotel for Sanyal when he was brought to Dantewada jail from Raipur this year for three days in January in connection with a court case related to terror attacks. Jailer is now in the police custody on the charge of ‘Rashtra droh’. It is alleged that he facilitated to runaway 300 prisoners including 100 naxalites from the prison.
